Biaxin is a bactericidal antibiotic that is helpful in the cure of the various kinds of bacterial infection. This medicine contains Clarithromycin as an active pharmaceutical ingredient. This antibiotic shows its action by suppressing the growth bacteria micro-organism. This antibiotic is also used in a combination therapy for stomach infection with anti ulcer drug. This medicine does not work against the viral infection. This medicine may be taken with or without foods. This antibiotic is very cost effective.

Dosage and administration of Biaxin

 Biaxin is an oral solid dosage form which is taken by oral route.

 For adult patient who are suffering

  •  From Pharyngitis infection-250 mg single dose in every 12 hours for the 10 days.
  • From sinusitis infection-this antibiotic available in two forms

1. Immediate release; 500mg single dose in every 12 hours for 14 days

            2. Extended release; 1000mg single dose in every 12 hours for 14 days

  • From bronchitis infection-

           1. Immediate release; 500mg single dose in every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days.

           2. Extended release; 1000 mg single in every 24 hours for 7 days

  • From pneumonia infection-
    1. Immediate release; 250mg single dose in every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days.

2. Extended release; 1000 mg single in every 24 hours for 7 days

  • From skin infection-250mg single dose in every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days.
  • From mycobacterium infection; 500mg twice a day.
  • From bacterial endocarditic –500mg single dose 30 to 60 minutes (prophylaxis)
  • From pertussis –500mg orally single dose in every 12 hours for 7 days.
