Cipro is one of the most effective antibiotics of Fluoroquinolones group that fight against the bacteria present in the human body. The Bacteria causes infection in our body and Cipro is used to cure or prevent from that infection. It is also used for the treatment of anthrax.

Dose of administration

The recommended dose of Cipro is one tablet in every 12 hours. You can have this drug with or without food but follow the same procedure every time. Take as much as water as you can during the course of antibiotic. Do not crush, split or chew the tablet, swallow the whole tablet. Do not consume Cipro with dairy products like milk, yogurt or calcium-fortified juice.


Missed dose

If you skip the dose it may increase the chance for further infection. If you missed your dose take it as soon as you remember. But if it almost the time for your next dose then skips then missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not attempt to take the double dose to compensate the missed dose.

Overdose

Do not take the double dose of a drug it may cause some serious side effects. If youhave taken over dose by mistake immediately seek medical help.

Contraindication

Contraindication is a specific condition in which a particular drug or treatment is strictly prohibited. Cipro is contraindicated in case of

• If you are allergic to quinolone or any other ingredient of ciprofloxacin do not take this drug.
• Drugs containing aluminium or magnesium like Maalox, Mylanta and antiulcer drugs like Carafate.
• Mineral supplements and vitamin supplements like iron, calcium or zinc.
• Do not take caffeine during this medication.
• Cipro is strictly prohibited with Tizanidine.
• Do not recommend this drug to children below 18year of age.

• Some of the common side effects are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, diarrhoea, urine urgency, headache, vaginal itching or vaginal discharge.

Cipro contain generic ciprofloxacin as an active ingredient. It is an orally administered drug long-acting tablets prescribed for the treatment of urinary tract infection. Ciprofloxacin acts by killing or inhibiting the growth of bacteria that causes infection. Some bacteria release toxic chemicals that can damage cells and make us ill. Storage
