Cleocin is an antibiotic used for the treatment of infection caused by anaerobic bacteria and protozoan infection like malaria. Cleocin belongs to the class of lincomycin antibiotics.

Dose of administration

The dose of any drug is prescribed according to age, severity of disease and other medications. The recommended dose of Clindamycin is 150 – 450 mg in every eight hours. Take this medicine with a glass of water. Have lots of water with this medicine to avoid esophageal infection. You can have this drug with or without food. Take this drug daily at the same time with the same procedure to get the best results.

Missed dose

Missing a dose of antibiotic may increase the chances to get an infection worse. If you have missed your dose take it as soon as you remember but if it’s almost time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not try to take a double dose to compensate the missed one.

Overdose

Overdose of any drug may cause some serious side effects. If you take an extra dose or double dose seek immediate medical help.

Cleocin is an antibiotic contains clindamycin as an active ingredient used against bacteria that causes infection. Clindamycin acts by killing sensitive bacteria by inhibiting the protein that is required by the bacteria to survive.it is used to cure infections caused by the bacteria in different body parts. Contraindication

Cleocin is contraindicated in serious renal disorder, Myasthenia gravis, colonic ulcers, Crohn’s disease, liver impairment, red blood in bowel movement, clostridium colitis, dermatitis, Diarrhoea. If patient is allergic to Clindamycin or any other ingredients of Cleocin. Do not recommend this drug to the pregnant ladies in the first trimester. Avoid this drug during lactation period.

Interaction

When two or more drugs are administered together they may interact with the effect of each other. This interaction may increase, decrease or sometimes alters the effect of the parent drug. The drugs that interact with the activity of Cleocin are

• neuromuscular blocking drugs like pancuronium and vecuronium
• Drugs like erythromycin, kaolin-pectin vaccines that contain live bacteria like BCG.
• Drugs like acenocoumarol, fluindione, warfarin
