Danocrine is used in the management of endometriosis and the fibrocystic breast disease. Danocrine shows its effect on ovaries and pituitary gland and inhibits the releases of certain hormones in the body. Sometimes it is also used to inhibit attacks of angioedema.

Dosage

The recommended dose of the Danocrine is one capsule twice a day with a glass of water. You can take this drug with or without food but daily you have to follow the same procedure. Therapy of this drug should maintain during menstruation. This therapy should continue 3 to 6 months. Take this drug daily at a same time to get the best results from the medicine. 

Side Effects

Sometimes the drug shows some unwanted effects that may cause harm to the patient are known as side effects. Some of the common side effects of Danocrine that do not require any medical help are pain, sweating, nausea, vomiting, hot flashes, headache, oily skin, mood alteration, vaginal dryness or irritation. Danocrine is a steroidal drug. It may affect the ovaries and pituitary gland and inhibits the discharge of certain hormones in the body. Danocrine is used in the management of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial like tissue get appear outside the uterus that lead to a chronic inflammation. This condition is mainly found in women of reproductive age, from all ethic and social groups. Symptoms of endocrine are severe dysmenorrhoea, chronic pelvic pain, ovulation pain, cyclic or premenstrual, symptoms, pain, infertility, chronic fatigue, and dysphasia.  The main active ingredient in the Danocrine is Danazol is a synthetic steroidal derivative of ethisterone. Danazol supresses the production of gonadotropins and had some weak androgenic effects. This drug suppresses the activity of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) and prevents ovulation during the middle of menstrual cycle. Danazol has direct effect on the stimulation of androgen and progesterone receptors.  

Indications:

Danazol is recommended for the treatment of symptoms of fibrocystic breast disease, pelvic pain and endometriosis (infertility due to certain uterus disorder), menorrhagia, and immune thrombocytopenic purpura, pain in breast, premenstrual syndrome, and angioedema. This drug can also be used to prevent swelling of the abdomen, face, arms, legs and airways due hereditary angioedema both in males and females. 

Overdose:

If you find symptoms of overdose seek immediate medical help. Symptoms of overdose may be severe abdominal pain, yellowing of eyes and skin, dark coloured urine. Long term use of overdose may leads to put on weight, increased facial hair or acne, menstrual disturbance or breast changes.

Missed dose:

Never forget to take your medicine on scheduled time. But if by chance you have missed your dose, take it as soon as you remind. But if you forget for longer time than skip the missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do take extra dose or double dose to cover up the missed dose.

Contraindications:

Contraindication is defined as the condition or a situation in which a specific drug or treatment is strictly prohibited.  Danocrine is contraindicated in:

  • Do not take this drug during pregnancy because it may cause harm to unborn baby or vaginal birth defect in new born female infants.
  • Do not use this drug if you have any type of allergy to Danazol or any other ingredient of this medicine.
  • Do not take this drug without consultation of your health provider if you have problems like porphyria, history of blood clot or stroke, any other problem related to kidney or liver.

Interaction:

When two more drugs are taken together they interact with the effect of each other, they may increase, decrease or sometimes alter the effect of the parent drug. Sometimes these drug interactions may cause serious side effects. The other drugs that interact with the activity of Danocrine are blood thinner like warfarin, cholesterol medicines like lovastatin, carbamazepine like carbaterol, insulin, cyclosporine like Gengraf.

Storage:

Keep this drug at room temperature between (15-30) ˚C. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Keep it away from children and pets.
