Ofloxacin is an anti bacterial treatment that is useful to manage infections caused by susceptible microorganisms called bacteria. It is effective to treat several types of bacterial infection such as respiratory organs related infections, urine tract infections, skin and soft tissue related infections, and certain kind of sexually transmitted infections. Few of these infections require a short term therapy while others require a detailed course of treatment which may last for a week or so. Treatment should be used for the recommended duration to completely get over the infection. Uncompleted treatment may lead to recurrences of bacterial infection or may worse your condition. Ofloxacin shows healing effect by killing the bacteria.

Ofloxacin belongs to the class of medicines known as antibacterial drugs. The medicines of this class are used to treat infections developed due to certain types of bacteria. Ofloxacin works by killing the bacteria and thereby blocking the growth of infection in the body.

To get the most benefits from your treatment, it is important that you should know the following safety tips for using this medication:

  • Medication with Ofloxacin should be used for limited period not more than eight weeks.
  • Taking certain other drugs with this treatment may affect the effectiveness of both treatment such as sucralfate, zinc or ironpreparations or antacid medicines with presence of aluminium or magnesium. Maintain a gap of two hours between these medicines schedules. Also, inform your doctor about your current medication prior taking treatment with Ofloxacin.
  • Keep yourself away from unnecessary exposure to daylight as Ofloxacin may make you sensitive to sunlight. Patient should also avoid using exposure to UV rays, sunlamps or solaria.

Ofloxacin could affect the ability of performing tasks that requires mental alertness including driving or operate machinery mostly in the starting days of treatment. Does this treatment can affect my family planning and pregnancy?
