Sporanox contains itraconazole as an active ingredient. It is used for the treatment of the antifungal infections. Itraconazole falls under the category of triazole antifungal. The itraconazole works to prevent the fungal growth further. It acts to inhibit the production of a chemical called ergosterol. Ergosterol is an important component of the cell membrane of the fungi.
