PROMETRIUM Capsules comes for oral administration and contains micronized progesterone as active ingredient. Micronized progesterone is chemically identical to progesterone (female sex hormone) of ovarian origin. Basically, Progesterone is synthesized from a starting material collected from a plant source. The bioavailability of progesterone oral version is increased through micronization. In physical appearance Progesterone is a white or creamy white, odorless, crystalline powder practically unsolvable in water, soluble in alcohol, acetone and dioxane and sparingly soluble in vegetable oils, stable in air. PROMETRIUM Capsules are available in multiple strengths to afford dosage flexibility for most advantageous supervision of different symptoms. PROMETRIUM Capsules contain 100 mg or 200 mg micronized progesterone. This is an approved treatment by the FDA in year 1998.
