Vibra tablets are antibiotic drugs helps to fight against bacteria. It is tetracycline antibiotic. Vibra tabs are used to cure infections caused by bacteria like acne, skin, dental, urinary tract infection, respiratory tract infection. It can also be used in malaria, Lyme disease and in certain sexually transmitted disease.

Dosage

The recommended dose of Vibra is 200mg first dose and followed by 100mg dose once on a daily basis. To get the best results take this drug daily on the same time. Take this drug with large amount of plain water. After taking this drug do not lie for at least 1-2 hours. The exact dose of any drug can be calculated according to weight of patient, medical history and other medications if having. Take the full course of medicine do not stop in between. Take this medicine with food or milk to avoid stomach upset. Swallow the tablet without chew, break or crush.

  • The most common side effects of nausea are stomach disturbance vomiting, diarrhoea, itching, rashes, and vaginal discharge.

The main active ingredient in Vibra tablet is Doxycycline-Hydrochloride. Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic. It’s a broad spectrum antibiotic i.e. it can act against a wide range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Doxycycline acts by inhibiting the growth of bacteria that cause causes infection. Doxycycline does not kill bacteria it only inhibits the growth of bacteria by inhibiting production proteins. Doxycycline acts against bacteria responsible for pneumonia, bird flu, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, cholera, plague, syphilis, bartonellosis, brucellosis and some other bacteria.  Doxycycline is also active against some parasite like Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium falciparum, and malaria.


Indication:

Vibra is indicated for the cure of a number of infections like typhus, pneumonia, fever, relapsing fever, cholera, trachoma and sexually transmitted diseases like granuloma, chlamydia, LGV. It can be used some treatment where penicillin is contraindicated due to allergy like syphilis, gonorrhoea. In some cases doxycycline is also used to cure acute bronchitis sinusitis, chronic bronchitis execration rheumatic fever and chronic bacterial prostatitis. It is also used to cure malaria with chloroquine caused by Plasmodium falciparum and plasmodium vivax. In some cases Vibra is recommended to cure intestinal amoebiasis and to treat acne.

Missed dose:

Do not break your schedule of medication. Take all the medicine on time without skipping any dose. If you miss any dose take it as soon as you remember. But if it is delayed almost to the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not take the double dose or extra dose to compensate the missed dose.

Overdose:

Do not take over dose or extra dose of any medicine. An overdose may cause some serious side effects. Seek immediate medical help in case of overdose.

Contraindication:

The conditions in which a particular drug or treatment is strictly prohibited. Vibra is contraindicated if

  • Patient is allergic to doxycycline or any other ingredients of the drug.
  • Patient is allergic of tetracycline antibiotics.
  • It should not be given to the pregnant ladies.
  • It should not be given to the patients with myasthenia Gravis.
  • This drug in prohibited to the children below 18 years.

Interactions:

Drug interaction is the condition in which a particular drug interfaces with the activity of parent drug. This interaction may increase, decrease or changes the action of a parent drug. The drugs that interact with the activity of Doxycycline are:

  • Antacid containing aluminium, calcium or magnesium.
  • Barbiturates like phenobarbital.
  • BCG, Birth control pills, typhoid vaccine.
  • penicillin like amoxicillin
  • Retinoic acid derivatives like Tretinoin.
  • Anaesthetics like methoxyflurane
  • Anticoagulants like warfarin
  • Drugs containing iron, bismuth or zinc salts. 

Storage:

Keep this drug in cool and dry place at room temperature. Keep it away prom direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children.
