VOLTAREN (Enteric coated tablets of Diclofenac sodium) belongs to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which helps in relieving pain and inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis, gout and ankylosing spondylitis.

Rheumatoid arthritis: It is a joint disease that causes redness, pain and swelling of the joints. It is an auto immune disease.

Gout: It is a type of arthritis in which pain and swelling occur of joints such as big toe, foot, ankle and knee toes. It occurs due to increase in uric acid in blood.

Ankylosing spondylitis: It’s a type of arthritis of spine in which vertebrae (spine’s bones) fuse together and become difficult to walk.

It is an anti-inflammatory drug which carry out the inhibition of both leukocyte migration and the enzyme cylooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), which carry out the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. As prostaglandins are the chemicals released in our body which cause pain and inflammation. Inhibition of their synthesis is responsible for the pain relieving effects of VOLTAREN.

It is used as a pain reliever in arthritis, gout and ankylosing spondylitis. It also reduces redness, stiffness and inflammation (swelling).
