MECHANISM OF ACTION

Tizanidine is a short-acting alpha 2-adrenergic receptor agonist and reduces spasticity by increasing presynaptic inhibition of motor neurons. It does not act directly on skeletal muscle fibers and neuromuscular junction. The effect of ZANFLEX is greatest on polysynaptic pathways. It reduces facilitation of spinal motor neurons.
